CWC must withdraw division decision

Hyderabad, Sept 20,
2013: YSR Congress honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma on Friday reiterated
the party’s demand to the Centre to keep the state united.

Speaking at the Dharna
of party activists at the Gandhi Nagar Police station here after the arrest of
the party MLAs and MLCs, she said the state is facing the distress only because
of the letter given by TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu to the Centre in support of
bifurcation.

Condemning the police
action on the party MLAs and MLCs who were about to lead a Padayatra to the
Gandhi statue in the assembly in support of the Samaikya Andhra cause, she
wondered whether we are staying in a democratic country.

“The MLAs were beaten
mercilessly,” she said asked. “Are we living in a democratic country?”

Squarely blaming the
Congress and TDP for the present crisis in the state, she said even now it is
not too late for TDP Chief Chandrabbu Naidu to correct himself and take back his
letter of support to the bifurcation.

All sections of people including
students, employees, farmers, women and others are participating in the fierce
agitation in Seemandhra, she said and asked the Congress to withdraw its
decision to bifurcate the state.

“In 2009, you had
withdrawn your decision to bifurcate the state. What is wrong if you once again
withdraw your decision to divide the state?” she asked the Congress.

Any decision regarding
the issue should be taken through the assembly resolution only, she said.
