Hyderabad: YSR Congress party (YSRCP) MLA Kona Raghupathi recalled Leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's promise of forming a Brahmin Corporation with a corpus fund of Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of the economically backward Brahmins in the State. AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu allotted just Rs 205 crores in the past five years and out of the allotted sum, only Rs 170 crore were utilized for the Brahmins, he added.
Addressing a press conference here today, Raghupathi recalled YS Jagan's promises made for the community's welfare in the community meet held at Visakhapatnam earlier this year. He added that the TDP government humiliated former Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao and TTD former chief priest Ramana Deekshithulu, who was asked to step down.
Stating that Chandrababu was a Brahmin-hater, he mentioned that the TDP did not allot a single MLA seat to the Brahmins. He further recalled late Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's words against promoting other religions on Tirumala. Chandrababu is least bothered about the woes of the priests in the State, he added.
"Chandrababu does not have national interests in mind. The YSRCP is committed to the welfare of the Brahmin community. A research team led by party leader Malladi Vishnu will tour across the State over the struggles of the Brahmins."
The YSRCP leader further said the YSRCP would implement the GO. No. 76 after assuming power in the next elections.
