Visakhapatnam, May 17: YSR Congress Party strongly denounces the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government for resorting to illegal arrests and political vendetta to mask its administrative failures and broken promises.
Speaking at a press conference here, Varudu Kalyani, President of YSRCP’s Mahila Vibhagam and MLC, criticised the Chief Minister for orchestrating a dictatorial regime that undermines democracy. “Chandrababu Naidu’s inability to govern effectively has led him to divert public attention from his government’s failures through vindictive arrests and diversionary tactics,” she asserted.
The recent arrests of former IAS officers Dhanunjay Reddy and Krishnamohan Reddy, who served under the previous YSRCP government, are a blatant attempt to suppress dissent and shift focus from the coalition’s unfulfilled commitments. Kalyani condemned these actions as undemocratic and demanded accountability. “These arrests are a desperate move to cover up the growing public discontent over the government’s failure to deliver on its promises to all sections of society,” she said, highlighting the misuse of the so-called “Red Book Constitution” to target opposition leaders.
Kalyani exposed the coalition’s hypocrisy in alleging a liquor scam under YSRCP’s tenure, calling it a fabricated narrative to harass leaders close to YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. “During YSRCP’s governance, we abolished belt shops, reduced liquor outlets, and minimized sales, with no scope for corruption. In contrast, Chandrababu Naidu’s regime granted licenses to nearly all distilleries in the state, while YSRCP issued none,” she clarified. She further criticized the current government for handing liquor sales to private entities, leading to unchecked belt shops operating 24/7 and flooding the state with alcohol.
The YSRCP leader challenged Naidu to face investigations into his own scams, including the Inner Ring Road, liquor, AP Fibernet, and Skill Development controversies. “If Naidu has the courage, let him subject himself to scrutiny instead of targeting innocent officers and opposition leaders,” Kalyani demanded. She warned that the coalition’s anarchic governance, marked by intimidation of IAS and IPS officers and industrialists, has deterred investments and pushed Andhra Pradesh into regression within a year of their rule.
