Tadepalli, Dec 30: Former Minister Adimulapu Suresh condemned the coalition government for its gross negligence of the education sector and creating a situation where students in government schools are bearing the brunt.
Speaking to media here on Tuesday, he said in the 18 months the coalition government is pursuing the policy of forcing students to move away from government schools as the dropout rate has touched 4.4 lakh and the GER ratio is falling drastically.
With the fee reimbursement not being cleared for the eight quarters and Vasathi Deevana not taken up, the coalition government owes over Rs 7,100 crore and it has done away with all the revolutionary schemes brought in by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
The government has done away with Nadu Nedu, English medium and other progressive schemes and all the apps introduced were removed and has brought in a new app in the name of Vidya Shakti which speaks of only irrelevant aspects.
Government hostels have been run in a shoddy manner and students are falling sick too often or some of them have lost their lives as the quality of food and hygiene is not being maintained.
Atrocities on minor girls are on the rise and POCSO cases are pending involving TDP and Jana Sena cadre.
One-third of the primary schools are run by single teachers and there is a shortage of teachers and the schools are ill-equipped.
All this is a pointer that the coalition government policies are driving students to private schools and the teachers are worried as they are not getting the due benefits.
The coalition is interested only in publicity as the Yogandhra was held at the beginning of the academic year and its impact is felt throughout the year.
