*YSRCP seeks immediate withdrawal of Nellore ERO, demands statewide probe into ‘MyTDP App’ use in SIR process*

Tadepalli, June 29: YSR Congress Party MLC and General Secretary Lella Appi Reddy has written to the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh seeking the immediate withdrawal of Y.O. Nandan, Commissioner, Nellore Municipal Corporation and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Nellore City Assembly Constituency, from all election-related duties pending an independent inquiry into his conduct during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Audio recordings supporting the complaint have also been submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer.
The representation states that this is a continuation of the complaint submitted on June 23 regarding the review meeting held on June 22, where Minister Ponguru Narayana, elected representatives, the ERO, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other election officials participated in reviewing the implementation of the SIR programme. The party had expressed concern that political executives were directly involved in an Election Commission exercise, compromising the neutrality, independence and credibility of the electoral roll revision process.
The letter states that, before any action was taken on the earlier complaint, fresh audio recordings surfaced showing the same ERO participating in a Telugu Desam Party Booth Level Agents (BLA) teleconference held on June 24. According to the representation, the recordings contain discussions on the use of the “MyTDP App”, which provides booth-wise voter information to facilitate voter identification, classification and the SIR process. The party stated that the conversations indicate that booth-level political functionaries are using the application during the ongoing revision exercise, raising serious concerns regarding the neutrality of election officials, the integrity and confidentiality of electoral data, and the use of a political party application in connection with an Election Commission process.
The YSRCP urged the Chief Electoral Officer to order an independent inquiry into the conduct of the Nellore ERO, withdraw him from all election-related duties pending completion of the inquiry, conduct a comprehensive statewide investigation into the use of the MyTDP App by election functionaries during the SIR process, and ensure that electoral roll revision is carried out exclusively through systems and applications authorised by the Election Commission of India, free from any political influence or association.
