Amaravati, June1: Former Minister Perni Venkataramaih (Perni Nani) stated that the Chandrababu Naidu government has failed to maintain transparency in the Mega DSC recruitment process and is refusing to disclose key information related to merit lists, Sports Quota appointments, and selection procedures. Addressing the media at the Secretariat, he said that while the government claims the recruitment was conducted transparently, crucial details continue to remain hidden from public scrutiny.
Perni Nani said that merit lists carrying candidates’ names, ranks, and marks should have been publicly displayed at Collectorate offices and made easily accessible online. Instead, candidates are witnessing changing lists, confusing data, and a recruitment process that lacks clarity. He questioned why complete district-wise merit lists and final selection lists have not been released despite repeated demands.
The former minister said YSRCP has sought detailed information under the Right to Information Act on Sports Quota recruitment, including the number of posts filled, percentage of reservation implemented, government orders governing the appointments, district-wise allocations, eligibility criteria, selection procedures, selection committee details, rejected applications, and recruitment approvals. He said the government has a responsibility to answer public doubts rather than avoid scrutiny.
He further questioned why the Sports Quota policy was altered, expanding eligible sports categories from 29 to 67 and increasing reservation from 2 percent to 3 percent. He also sought an explanation for changes made after the examination process and criticised that appointments were made through backdoor methods under the Sports Quota without adequate transparency.
Nani criticised the inclusion of activities such as bridge and other newly added categories for recruitment eligibility and questioned the standards adopted in teacher appointments. He said the truth behind DSC recruitment is gradually coming out and challenged the government to release the complete merit lists, Sports Quota selection records, and certificates of all selected candidates if the process was genuinely fair.
Accusing Education Minister Nara Lokesh of neglecting his department while avoiding accountability on DSC-related questions, Perni Nani said the government must place all recruitment records in the public domain and answer concerns raised by thousands of aspirants. He reiterated that if the recruitment process was conducted honestly, the government should have no hesitation in releasing every detail connected to DSC appointments and Sports Quota selections.
