YSRCP Panchayat Raj leaders visit ZP Chairperson Uppala Harika, condemn attack

Kudur, July 25: YSR Congress Party Panchayat Raj Wing State President Vennapusa Ravindra Reddy visited Krishna Zilla Parishad Chairperson Uppala Harika at her residence in Kudur village, Pedana Mandal, to express solidarity following the recent attack on her. He strongly condemned the incident and assured her that the party stands firmly with her and all local body representatives.
During the visit, Ravindra Reddy demanded that gunmen be immediately assigned to ZP Chairpersons as per GO No. 431 dated 15 November 1997. He said the YSRCP has always stood by elected representatives and would continue to support them against any intimidation or injustice.
He criticised the TDP-led coalition government for its silence on public issues and prioritising discussions on actor turned leader Pawan Kalyan’s failed films in Cabinet meetings instead. He remarked that the current government has two main objectives: looting and attacking political opponents, and accused it of engaging in targeted arrests and harassment of YSRCP leaders.
Referring to the attack on Harika, Ravindra Reddy questioned whether justice could be expected for ordinary women when even a district’s top elected woman representative was not safe. He condemned the government’s refusal to release Panchayat Raj funds and its diversion of Central grants.
He also took a dig at the Panchayat Raj Minister, stating that he seemed to give more importance to his films than to his department, exposing his lack of sincerity towards public service. Several local YSRCP leaders and activists participated in the visit, expressing their support to Harika and her family.
