YSRCP demands review on TET; warns against threats to teachers’ jobs

Tadepalli, Dec 22: YSRCP Employees and Pensioners Wing President Nalamaru Chandrasekhar Reddy on Monday demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government immediately file a review petition in the Supreme Court seeking exemption from TET for in-service teachers and take up the matter with the Centre to amend the orders, in line with assurances given to employees.
Speaking at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, he accused the coalition government led by Chandrababu Naidu of backtracking on promises made to teachers and subjecting them to mental harassment by mandating TET even for those already in service. He said forcing experienced teachers to prepare afresh and appear for an exam, while offering limited exemptions as leverage, amounts to coercion and threatens job security.
He urged TDP MPs to raise the issue in Parliament and press the Centre for relief, warning that YSRCP will firmly oppose and block any orders that jeopardise teachers’ livelihoods.
