Pulivendula, Feb 25: YSRCP State General Secretary SV Satish Kumar Reddy stressed that recognizing YSRCP as the opposition party is essential to voice public concerns and challenge government failures. He demanded that Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan exit the coalition if he wants to play the opposition role, slamming his “absurd” remarks, especially since three of four elected parties are in the ruling alliance.
Satish said former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seeks to identify YSRCP as the opposition party only to gain Assembly time for people’s issues, not personal gain. He questioned how coalition partners could critique their own government, emphasizing that democracy needs an active opposition. He accused the coalition of twisting Jagan’s stance and spreading falsehoods and criticized Pawan’s claim that Janasena deserves opposition status despite being in power, exposing his lack of democratic grasp. Satish dared Pawan to leave the coalition if serious.
Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan fear YSRCP questioning unfulfilled “Super Six” promises, denying opposition status to silence the public. Reddy called Pawan Naidu’s pawn and said Naidu manipulates Congress chief Sharmila too, who he criticized for focusing on personal agendas. He highlighted Jagan’s legacy, defeating Sonia Gandhi, founding YSRCP, winning as MP with 5.46 lakh votes, and leading it to power, against detractors’ hollow words.
Despite Jagan’s court plea for opposition party and a four-month-old request for the Speaker’s explanation, no counter-affidavit has been filed, raising judicial respect concerns. Satish reddy stressed that an opposition is as crucial as the ruling party in a legislative system.
