Tadepalli, May 26: Former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna criticised the coalition government for orchestrating a vendetta against YSRCP leaders through fabricated cases and arrests.
He highlighted the wrongful targeting of leaders like Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, and now Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who has been jailed as an A4 in a baseless case.
“The government is not only imprisoning our leaders but also officials, revealing a malicious agenda to silence dissent,” Nagarjuna stated. He pointed out that Kakani’s arrest stems from his bold criticism of the government, underscoring a pattern of political retribution.
Nagarjuna exposed the government’s misuse of power in Palnadu, where the TDP was directly implicated in diuble murder case, as confirmed by the SP. Yet, cases were unjustly filed against the Pinnelli brothers, betraying a shocking disregard for truth and justice. “This is a deplorable system that manipulates tragedies like the Jangareddigudem deaths for political vendetta,” he remarked, condemning government’s shameful tactics.
The former minister lambasted the government for its failure to address the plight of farmers, who are grappling with despair and financial ruin. “Farmers are committing suicide, yet the government remains indifferent. Crops like paddy, tobacco, chili, groundnut, cotton, and black gram fetch no viable prices,” he asserted.
In stark contrast, he recalled the assurance provided to farmers under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, where tobacco farmers earned up to Rs. 35,000, compared to today’s dire situation, where even labor costs are unrecoverable. Nagarjuna held the government accountable for pushing farmers to the brink, noting that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu only addressed the Guntur chili yard issue after YS Jagan’s intervention prompted action.
Nagarjuna announced that YSRCP leaders will visit Podili on May 28 to instill confidence among farmers and rally support for their cause. “This government deceives every section of society and lacks any vision to serve the people. We will stand with farmers and fight for justice,” he declared, signaling a resolute opposition to the government’s failures.
