YSRCP announces mass dharnas on October 28

Tadepalli, Oct 22: The YSR Congress Party has announced a statewide agitation against the privatization of government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. At the party’s central office in Tadepalli, YSRCP State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy unveiled the “YSRCP Praja Udyamam” poster, declaring that the movement will continue until the government withdraws this “anti-people and destructive decision.”
Sajjala said mass dharnas will be held across all Assembly constituencies on October 28, followed by district-level rallies on November 12. The ongoing one-crore signature campaign will conclude on November 23, and on November 24, the collected signatures will be brought to the party headquarters. Later, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and senior leaders will submit the people’s representations to the Governor.

He said the agitation is not political but a fight for the state’s future, stressing that students, employees, and intellectuals are voluntarily supporting the campaign. Under YS Jagan’s leadership, 17 government medical colleges were sanctioned, seven were completed, and several others are in advanced stages. “Instead of continuing that vision, the coalition government is auctioning them to private players,” he said.
Sajjala reminded that Pulivendula and Paderu colleges were obstructed by Chandrababu Naidu, and warned that the so-called PPP model is nothing but disguised privatization. “Private entities will profit from public assets while the poor suffer. YS Jagan built these colleges to ensure affordable medical education and healthcare. We will not rest until this betrayal ends,” he affirmed.
