YSR, Jagan brought Krishna waters to Kuppam, not Chandrababu

Tadepalli, August 26: YSRCP MLC KRJ Bharat clarified that Krishna waters reached Kuppam only due to the efforts of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, not because of Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing the media at the party central office, he said that Chandrababu is falsely claiming credit through propaganda and drama in the name of Jalaharathi.

Bharat explained that former CM YSR initiated the Handri–Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project and completed 80% of the works, including bringing Krishna waters up to Punganur. However, when Chandrababu became Chief Minister after state bifurcation, he inflated project costs from Rs 293 crore to Rs 575 crore but failed to complete the canal works. Instead, he engaged in corruption and gave a symbolic Jalaharathi at Narnapalle without delivering water to Kuppam.

He said Jagan, after becoming CM in 2019, kept his promise and ensured completion of pending works by changing the contractor and speeding up construction. By February 26, 2024, water reached Ramakuppam in Chittoor district, benefiting 6,300 acres and providing drinking water to 4.02 lakh people in Kuppam and Palamaneru constituencies.

Bharat accused Chandrababu of repeating the same exploitation by allocating Rs 161 crore for canal lining works to CM Ramesh’s company, calling it another round of loot. He said Chandrababu’s attempts to mislead Kuppam people with false claims and yellow media campaigns were shameless and condemned the misuse of the Jalaharathi program for political mileage.
