YS Vivekananda Reddy case being politicized for electoral Ggain: MP Avinash Reddy

New Delhi, March 16: YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy stated that the investigation into the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy has been one-sided and politically motivated, and questioned whether YS Sunitha Reddy is genuinely seeking justice or attempting to provide political advantage to N. Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing the media in New Delhi, he said Sunitha Reddy has been repeatedly holding press conferences and filing petitions instead of allowing the trial to proceed, and these actions are helping keep the issue alive for political mileage.

Avinash Reddy questioned why Sunitha Reddy, despite claiming to have examined nearly 13 lakh pages of case records, has not demanded further investigation into the statements of key witnesses such as the approver Dasthagiri, Rajasekhar Reddy, driver Prasad and Shamim. Referring to the Section 161 statement of approver Dasthagiri, he said the approver himself admitted to killing Vivekananda Reddy, yet Sunitha Reddy supported him and did not seek further probe into that aspect. He also questioned why, when a petition was filed seeking cancellation of Dasthagiri’s bail, senior lawyers were engaged to oppose the cancellation and defend the bail of the approver.

Avinash Reddy further said that the CBI conducted a biased and selective investigation, ignoring several relevant angles while relying on statements of witnesses influenced or tutored. He said he has written letters to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah seeking a fair examination of these issues. Referring to earlier developments in the case, he said the theory that Vivekananda Reddy died of a heart attack was initially circulated by Sunitha Reddy and Rajasekhar Reddy, and questioned why that angle was not thoroughly investigated despite statements by others regarding the issue.

Raising further concerns, Avinash Reddy said there were family and property-related disputes involving Vivekananda Reddy that could have provided motive for the murder, including issues related to property distribution involving another family, but these aspects were not explored during the investigation. He stated that the case has been repeatedly used by Chandrababu Naidu and political opponents to gain electoral advantage and divert attention from other issues.

He also criticized attempts to damage his reputation through films and public campaigns related to the case, stating that such efforts were aimed at maligning him politically. Avinash Reddy said repeated petitions are being filed to delay the trial and prevent the case from reaching its conclusion. He maintained that he has been falsely implicated and that the accused have limited opportunity to present their arguments during the current stage of proceedings. Expressing confidence in the judicial system, he said he is ready to face the trial and believes that the truth will ultimately prevail and justice will be delivered.
