AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed officials to arrange for medical treatment of a four-year-old girl who lost her eyesight due to cancer.

The four-year-old Hema lost her vision due to retinoblastoma, (eye cancer among children) and when the issue came to the notice of the Chief Minister, on being reported in the press, he asked authorities concerned to arrange for the required medical treatment.

The Chief Minister enquired about the child’s health condition and spoke to the parents of Hema, who hail from Kadiyapulanka village of Kadiyam Mandal in East Godavari District.

A day after the launch of YSR Aarogya Asara, which provides sustenance allowance to the patients, the CM said that the government has already decided to make major reforms in the health sector to address all such issues. He instructed officials to give the required treatment for cancer patients and said that the government is providing treatment for the required cycles of treatment for cancer patients.

"Unlike in the past, there shall be no upper limit for treatment of cancer patients under Aarogyasri and this will be implemented from January 1," the AP CM said.

Meanwhile, he ordered officials to provide treatment for emergency cases that come before January 1.
