YS Jagan For Cash Incentives To Encourage Sportspersons
28 Aug 2019 12:35 PM

Amaravati: To encourage sports and talent among players, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy showered monetary benefits for those who won medals for the State.
Speaking at the Spandana Redressal review meeting on Tuesday, YS Jagan said that sports were never given proper attention. There is a need to encourage sportsmen right from the lowest level, he said.
Talking further, he said that after the bifurcation of the State in 2014, sports were never encouraged or given importance. It is necessary now to recognise these players who have won medals at the national and international levels for the State, he said.
As part of this initiative, YS Jagan said that sportpersons who won Gold medals would be given Rs 5 lakh, for those who won silver medals Rs 4 Lakh and for those who won Bronze medals should be given Rs 3 Lakh.
He also emphasised the need to encourage and recognise players from Junior and Sub Junior levels. For these players he said that those who won Gold medals would be given Rs 1.25 Lakh, Silver medallists would be given Rs 75,000 and those who won Bronze would be given Rs 50,000 as incentives for winning at the National level games.
If they are given incentives, they will be encouraged to play better and we can produce a PV Sindhu from each district, he said.
YS Jagan said that these cash incentives would be presented to the winners on National Sports Day, which falls on August 29th this year. YS Jagan also said that this programme should be conducted for a whole week instead of just celebrating it for one day.
