Chilakaluripeta, June 17:Former minister Vidadala Rajini expressed deep concern over the suicides of two farmers in Nadendla mandal of Palnadu district. She said the deaths occurred due to the lack of Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for crops and rising debt burdens. After consoling the bereaved families at Chilakaluripet Government Hospital, she addressed the media and squarely blamed the ruling coalition government for these deaths, calling them “government murders.”
Rajini stated that the two farmers, Gopal Rao and Adinarayana, cultivated chilli, cotton, and tobacco but couldn’t get fair prices for their produce. As a result, they fell into severe debt and ended their lives. She criticized the government for its year-long failure to provide MSP for any crop, despite repeated protests by farmers. She reminded that YS Jagan had recently visited Guntur Mirchi Yard and Podili Tobacco Auction Centers, demanding fair prices for farmers and warning of mass protests.
She demanded immediate ex-gratia for the victims’ families and reminded that during YS Jagan’s tenure, support was extended through Rythu Bharosa Kendras and price stabilization funds. Rajini also condemned the incident in Kuppam where a woman was tied to a tree by a TDP worker, questioning the state’s law and order.
