*TDP workers attack YSRCP Loksabha Floor Leader and MP Midhun Reddy’s convoy in Punganur, vandalise YSRCP vehicles*

Punganur, Oct 16: TDP workers attacked YSRCP Loksabha Floor Leader and Rajampet MP P. V. Midhun Reddy’s convoy and vandalised YSR Congress Party vehicles in Punganur Municipality while he was accompanying party candidates and leaders to file nominations for the local body elections.

TDP leaders and workers blocked their movement towards the nomination centre, preventing YSRCP candidates from proceeding to submit their papers. Police present at the spot remained spectators as the attack and vandalism unfolded, YSRCP said.

Condemning the violence, YSRCP slammed the TDP government for allowing ruling party workers to intimidate opposition candidates and obstruct their participation in the elections.

YSRCP demanded immediate intervention by the State Election Commission, registration of criminal cases and the arrest of those responsible. YSRCP also sought action against police personnel responsible for inaction, adequate protection for candidates and their proposers, and arrangements enabling all affected candidates to file nominations without obstruction. The party urged the SEC to ensure a level playing field and free and fair local body elections.
