Candidates being intimidated

Rayachoti, October 16: YSRCP has slammed the coalition government for its politics of intimidation by threatening Party candidates to keep them away from filing nominations.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Party General Secretary Gadikota Sreekanth Reddy said that he would stand by all the candidates and warned the coalition of severe consequences in the coming days. There are attempts to thwart YSRCP candidates from filing nominations in all the 44 wards by intimidation and threats.

The officials were not giving the required certificates for the past 15 days  and are stating that they are under pressure and are not available which shows the intent of the government. The ruling coalition members are citing prestige as the reason for stopping the Opposition from contesting redefining democratic process. They are resorting to attacks and threats on the family members of the candidates and are raising irrelevant issues, he said.

The development works taken up in the constituency should be taken as yardstick, he said, adding that officials and police are under immense political pressure. The Party will stand by all the candidates and will take up their issue, he said and called upon the candidates to go ahead with nominations.
