TDP leaders exploiting mafia-style extortion

Narasaraopet, August 22:Former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy launched a scathing attack on the unprecedented corruption of the TDP-led coalition of turning even poultry sales into a mafia syndicate in Gurazala constituency. Addressing the media, he charged that MLA Yarapatineni Srinivasa Rao, through his associate “Chicken Basha,” has monopolized chicken sales, forcing shop closures, intimidating traders, and selling at inflated prices.
Mahesh Reddy revealed that in Dachepalli mandal alone, Chicken Basha sells about 2,000 chickens daily, pocketing Rs. 50,000 per day, Rs. 15 lakh per month, and nearly Rs. 2 crore annually. The plan, he warned, is to extend this across the constituency to rake in Rs. 10 crore every year. While chicken costs Rs. 90 per kg elsewhere, Gurazala people are being forced to buy at Rs. 120 under political protection.
“This is not governance, this is organized mafia,” he declared. “YSRCP allowed free, fair business, but the TDP coalition has reduced governance to syndicates in liquor, land, sand, mining, gambling, and now chicken sales. Did people vote for Chandrababu Naidu to run rackets in every sector?”
He demanded immediate police action and warned that if the government wants to monopolize private trade, it should “pass a law in the Assembly saying only ministers and MLAs can do business.”
Exposing rigging in the upcoming Dachepalli by-election, he noted that the voter list was cut from 1,500 in 2022 to just 1,100 now. “When even police rig elections, Andhra Pradesh falls below Bihar in democratic standards,” he said, adding that YSRCP will challenge the irregularities in the High Court.
“Chandrababu must answer, by promoting mafia rackets, what message is he sending to the people?” Mahesh Reddy thundered.
