Guntur: The Andhra Pradesh government has saved Rs 58 crores of the public exchequer through reverse tendering, YSRCP leader and minister for water resources Anil Kumar Yadav said on Saturday. He was speaking at a press conference at Tadepalli in Guntur district.
Kumar said that reverse tendering, the initiative by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for Polavaram left canal construction works, saved 20.33 per cent more money compared with the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government led by Chandrababu Naidu in the 290 crore budget that was allocated for the pupose.
The minister added that reverse tendering would be implemented in more tenders related to irrigation projects.
Kumar reminded that former CM Chandrababu Naidu handed over the same works to Max Infra Company during his tenure and now the same company has tendered 15.7 per cent less in the present YSRCP dispensation.
The YSRCP leader said that judicial preview was brought in to make the project more transparent, and tenders will be completed by November this year.
Taking a dig at Chandrababu Naidu, Kumar criticised the previous TDP government saying it only paid attention to commissions of the project and did not bother about the welfare of the people.
He further questioned Chandrababu Naidu over TDP's unfulfilled promise of constructing 20,000 houses to Polavaram victims and alleged that the former CM was involved in corruption of Rs 60 crores out of the proposed budget of Rs 300 crores.
The leader slammed Chandrababu Naidu and alleged that he is making false propaganda saying that YSRCP has given tenders only to followers of the party, adding that during the previous regime of the TDP government did not provide a single job, and is now blaming the YSRCP government which is pro-people.
