*Reopen Jogayya Case, Answer Sridevi’s Questions: YSRCP*

Tadepalli, August 12: YSRCP State spokesperson Are Shyamala demanded that the coalition government answer the questions raised by former Minister Seediri Appalaraju’s wife Sridevi and reopen the Cheppula Jogayya case for an independent investigation.

Speaking at the party central office, Shyamala said the government had failed to respond to Sridevi’s questions over the political targeting of Appalaraju’s family. Political differences should be fought politically, she said, questioning the justification for dragging family members and children into political vendetta. “If the facts are on your side, why remain silent? The government’s silence itself speaks volumes,” she said.

Shyamala referred to the December 21, 2024 road accident near Korasavada in Pathapatnam constituency in which Jogayya died. The victim’s family maintains that MLA Mamidi Govinda Rao’s son Sai Ganesh was driving the vehicle and that the driver’s identity was changed in the case. She demanded that the case be reopened to establish who was actually driving and why another person’s name was entered.

She said promises of ₹5 lakh assistance, support for the injured and a job for one member of Jogayya’s family remained unfulfilled even after nearly 20 months. She questioned whether the government was prepared to apply the same legal standards to a ruling-party MLA’s family that it applied to Seediri Appalaraju’s family.

Shyamala demanded an independent inquiry into the victim family’s claims and immediate implementation of the assurances given to them. She said there cannot be one law for the ruling party and another for the Opposition.

She warned the government to stop malicious propaganda and political vendetta against Appalaraju’s family, adding that YSRCP would continue questioning the coalition government and stand with victim families until justice was delivered.
