Guntur, July 9: YSRCP leaders strongly condemned the police failure to register a case on the complaint filed by MLC Mondithoka Arun Kumar and YSRCP leader Diamond Babu over the attack on them at Undavalli. Former minister Ambati Rambabu, MLCs Lella Appireddy and Mondithoka Arun Kumar, Diamond Babu and Noori Fathima approached the Additional SP after Tadepalli police failed to act on their complaint.
MLC Mondithoka Arun Kumar said an attempt was made on his life at Undavalli, where TDP workers attacked YSRCP leaders in the guise of farmers. He said he filed a complaint at Tadepalli Police Station and submitted visuals, evidence and material relating to the attack, but the Tadepalli CI refused to register an FIR. Instead, cases were filed against the very victims who were attacked. He questioned why no case was registered and no arrest was made even after a constable was injured in the attack by TDP leaders.
Tadikonda in-charge Diamond Babu said TDP leaders attacked them with large stones and created a violent situation at Undavalli. He said those who attacked them were not farmers, but TDP workers.
Former minister Ambati Rambabu said YSRCP leaders had sought the SP’s appointment two days earlier, but even after giving time, the SP left the office. He questioned whether even receiving a representation now requires Lokesh’s permission. He said policing has completely failed in Andhra Pradesh, and even when YSRCP leaders were attacked at Undavalli, SC/ST cases were filed against them.
Ambati said the police themselves are violating rules and refusing to register cases even when a constable was injured. He said the DGP and SPs are not even accepting representations because the police system has no answers. YSRCP will not fear false cases, he said, adding that IPS officers must seriously introspect.
