Tadepalli, August 9: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana strongly condemned the Chandrababu Naidu government for using the police machinery to obstruct YSRCP’s statewide rallies scheduled for August 10, stating that attempts to suppress the voices of students and unemployed youth were undemocratic and unconstitutional.
He said YSRCP would go ahead with peaceful rallies across Assembly constituencies despite police notices, denial of permissions and other restrictions. The rallies will demand a CBI investigation into the DSC–2025 question-paper leak and recruitment irregularities, the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh taking responsibility for the issue, immediate payment of pending Fee Reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena dues, and implementation of the promised unemployment allowance.
Botsa said YSRCP’s programmes over the past several days had remained peaceful and democratic, yet police were issuing notices to party leaders and workers across the State to prevent Monday’s rallies. “Holding peaceful rallies and protests is a constitutional right. Police notices cannot be used to imprison democracy or silence young people questioning the government,” he said.
He questioned why the government was resisting an independent investigation if it maintained that there were no irregularities in DSC–2025. He said students were struggling because Fee Reimbursement and Vasathi Deevena dues remained unpaid, while unemployed youth were still waiting for the allowance promised before the elections.
Botsa said using State machinery to suppress those raising these issues reflected the government’s fear of public scrutiny and an abuse of power to shield Nara Lokesh from accountability.
“No matter how many notices are served or obstacles created, the rallies will be held as scheduled on August 10 with the support of students and unemployed youth across Andhra Pradesh. The struggle will continue until the government addresses their demands,” he said.
