New Delhi, July 4: The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has issued summons to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Alluri Sitaramaraju district to appear for an investigation regarding a violent attack on tribal families in Srikakulam district.
The Commission has called for their personal appearance before Hon’ble Member Shri Jatothu Hussain at 11:40 AM on July 8, 2025, in the Court Room of NCST, 6th Floor, B Wing, Lok Nayak Bhawan, Khan Market, New Delhi. The officials have been directed to bring all relevant records, documents, and facts related to the case during the sitting.
The notice was issued following a representation submitted by Dr. Gumma Thanuja Rani, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Araku constituency, concerning an attack on Scheduled Tribe (Shikari) families in Eswaralah Colony of Srikakulam’s Empedu village.
The NCST has made it clear that failure to attend the sitting may lead to the Commission exercising its powers under Clause (8) of Article 338A of the Constitution of India to enforce their appearance.
The Commission is taking the issue seriously and has moved swiftly to ensure accountability and justice for the affected tribal families.
