Naidu obsessed with publicity; people paying the price: Perni Nani

Tadepalli, Jan 9: Former Minister Perni Nani strongly criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stating that his politics has become “publicity peak, substance weak,” with governance reduced to theatrics rather than solutions. He said Chandrababu used a special helicopter to distribute a single passbook, while yellow media obsessively targets YS Jagan Mohan Reddy daily. Perni Nani asserted that it was Chandrababu who trapped farmers’ lands under Section 22A, even including dotted lands, while Jagan never placed a single farmer’s land under 22A and instead systematically resolved long-pending land issues by removing unnecessary dependence on the JC system. He said the current government is still using the very survey systems, QR code–based land records, digital maps, and government-led stone marking introduced during Jagan’s tenure, shamelessly attempting credit theft while doing nothing except removing Jagan’s photo from passbooks and allegedly turning even passbook distribution into a commission-driven exercise.
He criticised Chandrababu having no consistency or credibility, claiming achievements where none exist, while failing to complete Polavaram despite promising the Assembly it would be finished by 2018. He questioned how a government that could not complete Polavaram could execute massive new projects like Nallamala Sagar, which would require nearly Rs. 1 lakh crore, while Amaravati construction itself would need another Rs. 2 lakh crore. He warned that in just 18 months the coalition government has already pushed the state into around Rs. 2 lakh crore of debt, and at this pace it will soon cross even the previous government’s borrowings. He said the so-called “double” and “triple engine” governments have delivered nothing but slogans, mud, and empty pots.
Perni Nani stated that Chandrababu has consistently betrayed Krishna basin interests, questioned how Krishna delta can survive if water does not reach from Nagarjuna Sagar to Prakasam Barrage, and condemned any attempt to compromise Andhra Pradesh’s water rights for personal or political convenience. He ridiculed claims about taking 0.33 TMC from Muchumarri up to Kuppam, and accused Chandrababu of harbouring hostility towards Rayalaseema, now even arguing that lift irrigation is unnecessary. He reiterated that Rayalaseema requires lift irrigation as a matter of survival and justice.
He also raised issues relating to Amaravati, stating that farmers who gave land in the first phase must first be done justice before any second phase is discussed. He questioned why Chandrababu repeatedly travels to Hyderabad even as Chief Minister, why he still does not have a house in Amaravati, and why he continues to stay in Lingamaneni Ramesh’s house. He said spending Rs. 1,000 crore on lifts in the capital would be better used to complete Rayalaseema lift projects.
Perni Nani further attacked Chandrababu’s moral authority, citing his long history of conflicts within his own family, including disputes involving NTR and Jr. NTR, and questioned who took over NTR Trust Bhavan, NTR’s house, and bank accounts, and who controls the cancer hospital today. He also criticised the coalition leadership for remaining silent while their own MLAs and ministers indulge in cockfights, and warned against divisive politics, stating that instigating caste and religious tensions, and ignoring atrocities against women and Dalits, reflects a complete collapse of governance and priorities.
