*Lathi-charge on Secretariat Employees inhuman: YSRCP Employees Wing*

Tadepalli, Sep 28: YSRCP Employees Wing State President N. Chandrasekhar Reddy strongly condemned the police lathi-charge on Village and Ward Secretariat employees, calling it an inhuman act and questioning why the government was treating employees with such hostility.
He said women employees were dragged by their hair and peaceful protesters were beaten merely for demanding resolution of their legitimate problems. Preventing employees even from reaching Dharna Chowk showed the government’s intolerance towards democratic protest. Despite restrictions, thousands of Secretariat employees came onto the roads to raise their demands.
Chandrasekhar Reddy said the employees’ demands were reasonable and that granting notional increments was the government’s responsibility. Their demand for Junior Assistant pay scales was also being ignored. At the same time, the government was attempting to remove around 30,000 employees in the name of rationalisation, creating deep insecurity among Secretariat staff.
He said employees seeking legitimate benefits were arrested and a peaceful protest was deliberately turned into a tense situation by the government. Circle Inspector Ali, who had gone to hospital for medical tests, was forcibly called back for duty and died of a heart attack while on duty. The government also bears responsibility for the death of YSRCP leader Kakumanu Rajasekhar, he said.
Chandrasekhar Reddy said many employees were losing their lives due to harassment, excessive workload and mounting pressure. Such treatment of government employees cannot continue indefinitely. He demanded that the government stop harassment, address the genuine demands of Secretariat employees, support families affected by work-related deaths and ensure justice and dignity for employees across the state.
