Farmers' plight in Bangarupalyam sparks outrage

Bangarupalyam, July 7: Former Minister and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy today lambasted the coalition government for its gross failure to support mango farmers in Bangarupalyam, as he inspected arrangements of former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s upcoming visit to the region. Farmers across the Chittoor district are eagerly awaiting YS Jagan’s visit to the Bangarupalyam mango market, ready to voice their grievances against a government that has left them in distress.
The farmers are reeling from unprecedented losses due to the absence of a minimum support price and the government’s blatant neglect. “Never before have mango farmers faced such dire circumstances,” Reddy asserted, addressing the media. “The coalition government’s promises of facilitating purchases through pulp factories and holding meetings with officials are mere rhetoric. Nowhere are mangoes being procured at the rates promised. This is nothing short of a catastrophe for farmers, and the government must be held accountable.”
Peddireddy highlighted the broader plight of farmers across Andhra Pradesh, noting that crops like tobacco, chili, cotton, and pulses are also fetching unremunerative prices, leaving farmers in despair. “The entire farming community is seething with anger and is ready to revolt against this apathetic regime,” he declared. He accused the government of creating obstacles to hinder Jagan’s visit, underscoring that the YSRCP leader’s tour is driven by a commitment to stand by farmers, not political motives. “Wherever YS Jagan goes, people rally behind him in large numbers. His visit is to ensure justice for farmers by pressuring this government to act,” Reddy emphasized.
Farmers are preparing to converge in Bangarupalyam during Jagan’s visit to share their struggles and demand action. As the Leader of the Opposition, Jagan aims to instill confidence in the farming community and advocate for their rights. Reddy reaffirmed that the YSRCP stands firmly with the farmers, committed to ensuring their voices are heard and their livelihoods protected.
