Former Minister Venugopalakrishna
Rajamahendravaram, Feb 27: Former Minister Venugopalakrishna has criticized the coalition government, claiming it has lost credibility within nine months of assuming power. He accused it of failing to fulfill pre-election promises, stating that the public now sees through its deception. The government focuses on settling political scores rather than addressing people’s needs, questioning if the mandate was given only for vendettas. He further charged it with covering up unkept promises with more lies, asking if vendetta politics is its hallmark.
He questioned the use of BNS 111 Act in cases like Posani’s arrest, asserting it does not apply. Venugopalakrishna pointed out inconsistencies in the government’s debt claims, initially Rs 14 lakh crore, later revised to Rs 6 lakh crore, calling CM Naidu a "master of falsehoods." He also criticized the government’s untested claims of adulteration in the Tirumala Laddoo controversy, accusing it of shirking responsibility.
He slammed the government for ignoring Guntur mirchi farmers until opposition leader YS Jagan intervened, questioning if support prices are announced only after farmer suicides. He defended the former CMs’ efforts on public issues, calling criticism of them unjust.
Venugopalakrishna accused the government of claiming credit for past achievements while pursuing anti-people policies, such as reducing the height of the Polavaram project, which he termed deplorable. Despite promises to lower prices, he noted significant hikes within nine months.
He urged the public to recognize these anti-people policies and hold the government accountable.
