*Tadepalli, July 22:* YSRCP Guntur District President and former Minister Ambati Rambabu said the CID charge sheet in the Kadambari Jethwani case had exposed the false campaign and political vendetta pursued by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Yellow media against senior IPS officers. Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office, he said the present government’s own CID had concluded that Jethwani was involved in extortion and that money was deposited into her account, proving that the original case registered on Kukkala Vidyasagar Rao’s complaint was genuine.
Ambati said the police had acted strictly in accordance with law, obtained prior court permission before travelling to Mumbai, produced Jethwani before the competent courts and conducted the investigation only under judicial orders. Despite this, the coalition government projected her as an innocent victim, fabricated stories of illegal detention and torture, and suspended officers who had discharged their duties lawfully. He said P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, Kanthi Ranaly Tata, Vishal Gunni and other officers were targeted, while Anjaneyulu was arrested and sent to jail as part of a political witch-hunt.
He charged that Chandrababu first uses yellow media to circulate a false narrative and then brings Lokesh, the Home Minister and other leaders into a coordinated campaign. Jethwani was given VIP treatment, hotel accommodation, flights and protocol darshan, while women’s groups were mobilised to build political pressure. The CID charge sheet has now demolished that entire narrative, he said.
Ambati demanded that Chandrababu, Lokesh and the Home Minister explain why officers were suspended and prosecuted when the government’s own investigation has validated the extortion case. He said the High Court had already halted further action against the officers and asked whether the government would now apologise to them. Warning that politicising the police system and punishing officers for lawful duty would weaken institutions, he said the coalition government would have to answer for its vendetta-driven actions.
