Chevireddy slams Naidu on political vendetta and false cases

Tadepalli, Jan 29: Former YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said that every time Chandrababu Naidu becomes Chief Minister, he is targeted out of personal and political vendetta. He said he rose politically from Chandrababu Naidu’s own native place, and Chandrababu could not tolerate his growth.
He recalled that in 2014, after he was elected as an MLA from Chandrababu’s native constituency, false cases were foisted on him. Between 2014 and 2019, as many as 72 cases were filed against him. He was kept in jail for several months and shifted between district and sub-jails in Chittoor, Nellore Central Jail, and Kadapa Central Jail.
Chevireddy alleged that he was not just jailed but also physically assaulted despite being a sitting MLA. He said he was once blindfolded at night, made to sit on the floor of a police bus, and taken in a humiliating manner to Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu, where he was beaten. Later, he was brought back near Nellore and taken to Satyavedu police station. When he began a hunger strike there, police avoided producing him before court and instead dropped him at a remote village at night to hide the injuries caused by police assault.
He said that after Chandrababu Naidu again became Chief Minister, the same pattern of vendetta resumed. This time, he was kept in jail for nearly eight months, amounting to 230 days.
Chevireddy further stated that the harassment has now extended to his family. In the 2024 elections, his son Mohith Reddy contested as an MLA candidate from Chandrababu Naidu’s native constituency on behalf of YSRCP, following the encouragement of party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.  Since then, ten cases have already been filed against his son. He said his second son, Harshith Reddy, who was active as a student leader, has also been booked in cases. He questioned how being born in Chandrababu Naidu’s native place could become a crime.
He expressed concern that even his elderly mother and wife are not being spared and said his entire family is being turned into victims of political revenge.
Chevireddy said he has been associated with the YSR family for over 36 years, serving three generations of leadership, from YS Raja Reddy to YS Rajasekhara Reddy and now YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said his leader taught him to stand firm and face any hardship with courage, no matter how many cases are filed or how much false propaganda is spread.
He asserted that he is not afraid of cases or jail and said such actions only make him stronger. He said he will continue to face the situation with determination.
Finally, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said that as per court directions, he will not speak about the specific case and requested the media not to ask questions related to it.
