Guntur, April 19: YSRCP Guntur District President and former Minister Ambati Rambabu sharply criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, once again exposing his opportunistic and contradictory politics. Speaking to the media at his camp office in Guntur, Ambati said that while TDP claims to support the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, its leaders simultaneously hold meetings and dine with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who opposed the same bill, clearly revealing Chandrababu’s “chameleon-like” politics. He pointed out that Chandrababu has repeatedly shifted alliances—from partnering with the BJP to breaking ties and now re-aligning again—while now engaging politically with Congress leadership, and said people are closely observing these inconsistencies.
Ambati Rambabu further stated that even after 12 years of bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh still lacks a proper capital due to Chandrababu’s failure. He termed Amaravati an “endless story” driven by corruption and self-interest, alleging that the project was designed not to build a functional capital but to benefit contractors and benamis. He criticized the inflated construction costs in Amaravati, stating that while construction elsewhere costs between ₹2,500–₹4,500 per square foot, Amaravati projects are being estimated at ₹14,000–₹16,000 per square foot, calling it blatant loot. He questioned the logic of burdening an already financially stressed state with lakhs of crores in debt for Amaravati, especially when even basic infrastructure would require nearly Rs. 2 lakh crore.
In contrast, Ambati said that former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed the practical and cost-effective “Mavigan” model (Machilipatnam–Vijayawada–Guntur), which is already a developed region with infrastructure like airports, hospitals, and roads, and a population of 35–45 lakh people. He noted that public response to Mavigan has been overwhelmingly positive, forcing the ruling party into panic and prompting a smear campaign against the proposal. He asserted that attempts to divert attention from Amaravati’s failures through propaganda have failed, and the public is increasingly recognizing Mavigan as a viable alternative.
He also condemned the rising trend of arrests of journalists and political leaders, stating that the arrests of senior journalist and YSRCP State General Secretary (Media) Pudi Srihari and Telangana journalist KVR were politically motivated and intended to create fear. He accused the government of misusing police machinery to target dissenting voices and warned that such actions would backfire. Ambati cautioned that police officials acting under political pressure risk legal consequences, and if the public perceives injustice and illegal actions, there could be strong backlash. He urged the government to stop diversionary politics, abandon vindictive actions, and focus on transparent and accountable governance.
