During the course of his mass contact initiative Praja Sankalpa Yatra over the last few days in West Godavari district, Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been highlighting the problems faced by aqua farmers in the district. Scores of farmers engaged in prawn farming and pisciculture met him to narrate their plight and to describe the indifference of the Chandrababu Naidu dispensation. They sought his intervention in mitigating their condition.
After his interaction with aqua farmers at Pedakapavaram, YS Jagan demanded justice from the government. He also dwelt on their suffering in the massive public meeting which he addressed at Akiveedu last evening. YS Jagan pointed out that while the TDP government did not any support price to the farmers, conversely it worsened their situation by hiking the power tariff exorbitantly.
A rattled Chandrababu made a quick climb down. The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh convened a meeting with aqua farmers who were very happy with the YSRCP chief for having unmasked the apathy of the government and bringing it to its knees.
