yellow nedia spreading lies
Tadepalli, Oct 14: YSRCP Legal Cell state president Malasani Manohar Reddy clarified that no court had issued directions requiring YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s personal appearance. He condemned “yellow media” reports portraying proceedings in the CBI court as a setback to Jagan, calling them false propaganda intended to divert public attention during local-body elections.
Speaking at the party’s central office, Manohar Reddy said hearings on petitions in Jagan’s cases were already taking place daily. Jagan’s lawyers informed the CBI court that they themselves sought speedy disposal and questioned the ED’s approach to the Telangana High Court seeking daily hearings when these were already underway.
The court subsequently called the ED’s lawyers, asked whether they were prepared and indicated that proceedings concerning ED chargesheets would also be heard alongside those concerning CBI chargesheets. Presenting this as an order for Jagan’s personal appearance amounted to distortion, he said.
Manohar Reddy said these developments reinforced concerns that the ED was functioning as a puppet in Chandrababu Naidu’s hands and being used for political manoeuvring. Media organisations must report court proceedings accurately.
He demanded disclosure of progress in investigations concerning Naidu, including the skill-development case, other financial matters and suspicious transactions involving former personal secretary Pendyala Srinivas. He also sought answers concerning earlier complaints involving former ED official Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi. The attention devoted to Jagan’s cases must extend equally to other investigations, he said, stressing impartiality and rejecting different standards for political opponents.
Manohar Reddy warned media organisations against distorting judicial proceedings and said the party would consider defamation proceedings and other legal action over unverified, false reports. Court processes must not become instruments of political propaganda, he stated.
