Displaced persons get assurance from Sharmila
30 Nov 2012 12:12 PM

Nandimalla
(Mahabubnagar district), Nov 30, 2012: Smt. Sharmila, who has been undertaking
Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress Party chief Sri Y.S.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, has assured the displaced families of the Nettempadu Lift
Irrigation Project that the party would stand by them in their fight for suitable
rehabilitation.
Smt. Sharmila gave this
assurance to the people of the villages in Upperu, Nettempadu, Vamanapally and
Narsamdoddi in Mahabubnagar district during her Padayatra on the 43rd
day on Thursday.
The villagers
complained that their villages were being submerged with the water being
released for the trial run. “Our house walls are getting soaked with the water
being released for the trial run and we don’t know how the situation will turn
when the water flows on a regular basis into the project,” they told her.
The villagers said they
have already lost their agricultural lands and are now on the verge of losing
their houses also due to the project.
Reacting to their fears,
Smt. Sharmila told them that rehabilitation of the displaced persons and
payment of compensation to them is as much important as the construction of the
project and surely YSR Congress party would stand by them on the issue.
Smt. Sharmila instilled
confidence in the villagers by saying that Dr.YSR always used to think of
rehabilitation issue seriously and Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also will seriously
try to solve their problems after assuming power.
Sharmila expressed
disappointment over the Government’s apathy in completing the 25 per cent
balance works of several projects which Dr YSR had completed up to 75 per cent
during his regime.
