YSRCP exposes Chandrababu’s lies on medical colleges; Calls on public to verify ground reality

Tadepalli, September 14: Former Deputy Speaker Kona Raghupati came down heavily on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP-led coalition for spreading false propaganda on government medical colleges. Addressing the media at the YSR Congress Party central office, Raghupati said Naidu has always thrived on lies, betraying the poor and weaker sections with false promises before elections and dashing their hopes after coming to power.
He reminded that it was Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy who took the historic decision to establish 17 new government medical colleges, guided by NITI Aayog’s proposal for one college in every parliamentary constituency. “This was not a political move, but a social responsibility — to ensure free healthcare for the poor and accessible medical education for students,” Raghupati said.
During YS Jagan’s tenure, seven colleges were fully constructed, five have already started classes, and the rest are nearing completion. In contrast, the coalition government has halted construction for 15 months and is now shamelessly preparing to privatize these very institutions. “You rejected 50 MCI seats for Pulivendula Medical College and now you claim to care for students? This hypocrisy must be exposed,” he said.
Raghupati slammed Chandrababu’s claim of financial constraints. “You borrowed ₹1.90 lakh crore in just 15 months. Can you not spend Ra.4,000 crore on essential medical colleges? You claim Jagan left Rs. 10–12 lakh crore debt, but your own Finance Minister stated in Assembly it was only Rs. 4.67 lakh crore. Why mislead people?” he questioned.
Citing examples, Raghupati highlighted how Machilipatnam, Vizianagaram, Nandyal, Markapur, Piduguralla, Bapatla, and Pulivendula colleges were either completed or close to completion, equipped with modern facilities far superior to private colleges. “In Bapatla, Jagan’s government created 120 oxygen beds, an oxygen plant, and ICU facilities to fight COVID, compared to just two oxygen beds during Naidu’s rule,” he noted.
He condemned the “yellow media” for running fabricated stories such as “10 new colleges being launched” while in reality, coalition leaders are privatizing Jagan-era projects and claiming them as their own.
Appealing directly to intellectuals and the people, Raghupati said: “Do not believe lies. Visit these colleges, see the reality, and tell the truth to society. These medical colleges are people’s assets built with public money — and it is the people’s responsibility to protect them.”
