An award that Chandrababu doesn't deserve

Here’s a funny news – Chandrababu Naidu has been chosen for MS Swaminthan committee’s International Agriculture Policy Leadership award. The laughable part is he is neither international leader, nor did he do anything spectacular in agricultural sector and never gave any leadership in policy formulation. Yet, he is bagging the award.

Chandrababu Naidu has not implemented even a single recommendation of the Swaminathan committee. The committee recommended that the Government should provide health insurance to the farmers. It asked the support price should be declared by adding 50 per cent to the input costs. It also wanted the farmers to be made partners in the process of fixing the support price. He has done none of these.

In fact, he is on record saying that the farmers should go in for cash crops and shun food crop. Under his rule, the area under cultivation has come down from 40 lakh acres in 2014 to 34 lakh acres.  Isn’t it very funny that despite doing nothing for the farmers, Chandrababu Naidu is getting awards for agriculture. He doesn’t even bat an eyelid while taking the awards that he doesn’t deserve at all.
