Pulluru, Nov 22, 2012: YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma on Thursday appealed to the Telangana people to welcome her daughter Sharmila into their hearts with love and affection like their sister, daughter and as a grand daughter.
Addressing a huge public meeting at Pulluru in Alampur constituency of Mahabubnagar district soon after entering Telangana as part of the ongoing Maro Praja Prasthanam, Vijayamma began her speech by paying tributes to the Telangana martyrs who died for the sake of Telangana and to those who died of shock in Telangana in the wake of the tragic death of YSR in 2009.
Vijayamma said her son and party president Jagan Mohan Reddy should have undertaken the Padayatra but as he was in jail, he sent Sharmila to undertake the Padayatra to give confidence to the people in their difficult times.
Reiterating that neither YSR nor Jagan Mohan Reddy was against Telangana, Vijayamma recalled the resolution adopted in the YSRCP plenary demanding the Centre to find a suitable solution for Telangana problem without adversely affecting the sentiments of the people of any region.
“Telangana farmers benefited most when YSR, soon after assuming power as CM, signed the file relating to the crop loan waiver in 2004,” she said, observing that Jagan Mohan Reddy, like YSR, would also strive for the welfare of Telangana people when he comes to power.
In her speech, Vijayamma referred to the plethora of welfare schemes innovatively introduced and effectively implemented by YSR and assured the people that YSRCP would also introduce the same welfare schemes after coming to power.
Referring to the series of promises being made by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu during his Padayatra, Vijayamma called upon the people not to believe them as there was no credibility at all for Naidu going by his past record.
