Hyderabad, March 30, 2013: Picking
up the gauntlet thrown by the Kurnool TDP leader, YSRCP has said facts remain
the same and they can go ahead with the CBI probe into the role of DA Somayajulu
during YSR term and seek the help of noted economist Dr C Rangarajan in this
regard.
“What Somayajulu has said is
figures that can be verified and threatening people with CBI probe has been the
style of functioning of the Congress government which is being shielded by
TDP,” party leaders Konatala Ramakrishna told reporters here on Saturday.
The black paper published by
the TDP is full of distorted facts and concocted figures. Our party leader
Somayajulu has put the record straight and the reality must have pinched the
main opposition party and KE Krishna Murthy very much, he said.
All non-Congress parties went
on record in the Parliament that Congress is using CBI and other law enforcing
agencies as tools to settle political scores. In the State, TDP has been
functioning as the saviour of Congress and the two parties has been working for
mutual interest.
TDP has been jerked by the
facts doled out by Somayajulu in response to its black paper and has been
resorting to arm-twisting tactics.
“We cannot be bullied by such
elements and we are prepared for any inquiry, he said.
We have placed simple facts
and a comparative analysis of Congress rule and TDP on how power sector and
other departments were neglected by TDP with data supported by CAG, Budget and
other documents.
While the state Electricity
Board has earned profits during Congress rule from 1989-94, it suffered a
cumulative loss of Rs 20, 0000 crores during the TDP term of 1994-2004 due to
mismanagement of power sector. The same is the case in terms of revenue deficit
which came to Rs 22,000 crores during TDP regime while the previous Congress
term has shown a surplus.
The assets liability ratio has
plunged from 101:100 before 1994 to 45: 100 during TDP term and has improved to
120:100 as on March 31, 2009 under YSR.
The other facts we have placed
on public domain is that YSR did not increase power tariff at least once in
five years and the consumption has gone up from 800 crore units in 2003-04 to
1,500 crores in 2008-09.
We have only placed the comparative
data and it stands legal scrutiny and can be probed by CBI or any other agency
and we suggest that the services of eminent economist like Dr C Rangarajan
should be taken in judging the veracity of the data.
“Our facts and figures are not
like the fictional figures shown in the black paper and we stand by what we
have given,” he said.
Party leaders K Mahender Reddy
and Bajireddy Goverdhan, who were also present at the press conference, said
that a five-member team of the party has visited Jangaon, the constituency of
Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who told the State Legislative Assembly that if power is
not available to farmers whose borewells did not dry up, the solution is just
one phone call away.
There was a farmer at Inapur
of Jangaon whose borewell has water but there was no power. The phone numbers
given by the Minister in the Assembly were not working. “This is nothing but misleading
the house,” they said.
Another delegation has also
gone to Sircilla to raise hopes to the weavers in distress. “We assured them
that YSRCP is with the people. Our Honorary President YS Vijayamma has earlier
held a Chenetha Deeksha at Sircilla, which has nearly half of the powerlooms in
the state.”
The situation is bad and the power bills are pushing the weavers into
indebtedness, he said, adding that they have assured the weavers of all help
from the Party.
