Hyderabad, April 12,
2013: YSR Congress party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma paid glowing tributes
to Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule on the eve of his 186th Jayanti on
Thursday.
At a function got up
for the occasion at the party central office here, Smt. Vijayamma garlanded the
picture of Jyotirao Phule and said while Mahatma Gandhi fought for the freedom
of the country, Jyotirao Phule fought for driving away social stigmas and achieving
social freedom for the downtrodden and the poor.
“Phule gave importance
to the education of women and it must be noted that his wife was the first
woman teacher in the country,” Smt. Vijayamma said.
