*Court verdict exposes TDP’s misuse of police in Tenali*

Tadepalli, September 30: Welcoming the district court’s verdict in the Tenali incident, YSRCP said the TDP-led coalition government was misusing the police to serve its political agenda.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, former MP Gorantla Madhav said the police had foisted a false attempt-to-murder case on four youths in Tenali last April. They took three of the youths into custody, paraded them on the streets and beat them. The video of the incident went viral.

When YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the youths to console them, the coalition and its friendly media trolled him and made uncharitable remarks, Madhav said.

With the district court absolving the youths of the charge of attempting to murder a police constable, the coalition must answer why the police were made to follow a “Red Book Constitution” to please political bosses and bring disrepute to the entire Police Department, he said.

The court’s dismissal of the case filed by the police makes clear that political interference has weakened policing in the State, Madhav said. A similar inhuman incident took place in the Sai Krishna custodial death case, where even his parents were deprived of his ashes, he added.
