Tadepalli, Sep 29: YSRCP State spokesperson Vangaveeti Narendra said the Chandrababu Naidu government had failed to deliver on Super Six promises and was now spending crores of public money on paid social-media promotion to cover up its failures.
He said the government introduced an influencer policy after realising that people were no longer trusting its supportive media ecosystem. Influencers with over one lakh followers were being offered up to Rs. 15,000 per post, which could amount to Rs. 4.5 lakh a month for one post a day. He demanded immediate withdrawal of the policy, saying public funds should not be diverted to ITDP activists and self-promotion.
Narendra said the government claimed there was no money for Aarogyasri dues, fee reimbursement, input subsidy or relief to cyclone-hit fishermen, while hundreds of crores were being earmarked for publicity. He said Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh had resorted to mutual self-praise as public dissatisfaction grew.
Referring to Amaravati, he said recent rains exposed flooding risks, while government-friendly media and paid influencers projected a contrary picture. He questioned the need for nearly 50,000 acres when, according to5 him, major government buildings would require only around 1,200 acres, and criticised high construction and infrastructure estimates as a route for contractor-driven expenditure.
Narendra further said nearly two lakh YSRCP-linked social-media accounts, including accounts associated with party activists, spokespersons and Sakshi, had been blocked during the past five months through coordinated reporting, averaging around 1,300 accounts a day.
He demanded that the influencer policy be scrapped immediately, saying political publicity should not be financed from taxpayers’ money
