Vijayamma meets Pranab, seeks intervention

Delhi, Jan 15,
2013: YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma met President
of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday evening here and submitted the 1.56 crore signatures of people who voluntarily signed on an appeal pleading his
Presidential intervention to stop the victimisation of party president Sri Y.S.
Jagan Mohan Reddy by CBI.

Vijayamma,
accompanied by party MP Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy and other leaders, submitted to
the President the CDs containing the signatures and the appeal highlighting the
victimisation of Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI.

In the appeal
submitted to Sri Pranab Mukherjee, YSR Congress has pointed out that the CBI,
instead of probing first to find out whether
Government business rules were broken and favours granted in the issuing of GOs
by various ministries, began witch-hunting and fixing Sri Jagan Mohan
Reddy by probing the investments made into his companies by several individuals
and companies.

It is not fair on part of the CBI to attribute wrong
doing for Dr.YSR who is not there to defend himself, especially when there are
no procedural deviations in the 26 GOs issued by the Cabinet of YSR as revealed
to the Supreme Court by the state Government, said the appeal. In such a case,
where is the question of quid pro quo? “Why then is Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy in
custody,” the appeal questions.

Calling the arrest of Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy a blatant violation of human rights, the appeal has pointed
out that the CBI started victimising him the moment
he came out of the Congress party to keep his word to the families of those who
died of shock or committed suicide unable to come to terms with the tragic
death of YSR.

The appeal has
recalled the recent statement of Finance Minister P. Chidambaram that affairs
of private individuals couldn’t be investigated and the Supreme Court orders
barring investigation into the affairs of Dimple Yadav, wife of Akhilesh Yadav
as she doesn’t hold any public office.

In the light of the above, the Government has no
right to intrude into the private businesses and affairs of Jagan Mohan Reddy
who didn’t hold any office in Government and who never spoke to any minister or
any IAS officer nor stepped once into the Secretariat or CMO, the appeal has asked
for the Presidential intervention on the issue.

CBI, investigating into
the investments made by individuals and companies, has kept Jagan Mohan Reddy illegally
in jail for the last 8 months which is highly deplorable.

Both the ruling and opposition parties have come
together in the most unethical manner to persecute and victimize Sri Jagan
Mohan Reddy who was only trying to keep up his commitment given to the people, Smt.
Vijayamma pointed out in the appeal.

“It is the humble request of 2 crore people of
Andhra Pradesh who have signed with the hope that you will use your good
offices to correct this grave injustice done to Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy,” said
the appeal. Though the party has collected  nearly 2 crore signatures, the CDs containing the signatures of only 1.56 crore people have been submitted to the President.
