Vijayamma to undertake Deeksha on 14, 15

Hyderabad, July 8, 2013: Protesting
against the GO issued capping fees reimbursement for higher and technical
education, YSR Congress Honorary President YS Vijayamma would undertake a
two-day fast July 14 and 15demanding reversal of the order to enable
weaker sections to avail the education facilities in all colleges.

“The
Government has issued a GO fixing a ceiling of Rs 35,000 to engineering
students which will further dilute the fees reimbursement scheme introduced by
YSR and the Government may completely do away with the welfare scheme that has
benefited many students belonging to the weaker sections. The Party has decided
to protest against the Government policy and will undertake a two-day deeksha,”
party senior leader Dr MV Mysoora Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

The venue
will be announced later. The Party has decided that YS Vijaymma will sit on
fast for two days demanding the Government to revoke the GO which has fixed a
ceiling on fees reimbursement, he said.

The ceiling
of Rs 35,000 reimbursement has been increased from 90 to
175 colleges and the move seems to be watering down the spirit of the
scheme. Such harsh measures would keep the higher and technical education far
away from weaker sections, he said.

YSR has
introduced the welfare scheme which has enabled the Engineering, Medicine, MBA
and MCA to be within the reach of the students belonging to weaker sections and
this Government has been diluting the scheme and discouraging the SC, ST and
BCs from having access to higher education, he said.

It is ironic that
the Congress government has to resort to cutting corners in the fees
reimbursement scheme though its revenue has increased two-fold by Rs 60,000
crores ever since the scheme was introduced.

“This clearly
shows that the Congress government is not interested in the welfare of weaker
sections and has never been transparent in showing where the additional revenue
generated is being spent,” he said.

YS Jagan
Mohan Reddy held Fees Poru at Indira Park from February 18 to 24, 2011. The
Party undertook state-wide protests on January 4 , 2012 while YS VIjayamma held
protest programmes on August 13, 14 2012 at Eluru and on September 6 and 7
2012 at Indira Park.

Mamata: He said
that Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee spoke to YS Vijayamma on phone
and enquired about YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. She also asked about the political
situation and invited YSRCP to join the proposed Federal Front and said that
the national political situation is fluid.

Viajyamma
replied that the issue will be told to Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and
it will be discussed in the Party which will take an appropriate decision, he
said.

Telangana:  On Telangana,
he said the Congress has been creating the confusion and whipping regional
passions. In the All Party Meeting convened by the Union Home Minister,
Congress itself had given two contrasting versions.

 "Our stand is
very clear. We have told that the Centre has to take the decision and why
should it delay the process in the name of road maps,” he said.
