Vijayamma ends fast on Jagan’s request

Guntur, Aug 24, 2013:
YSR Congress honourary president Smt. Y.S.Vijayamma’s fast unto death Samara Deeksha
was foiled by the Guntur police who raided her fasting camp last night and took
her to the General Hospital.

Later, Vijayamma
continued her Deeksha in the Hospital but later called off her fast after YSR
Congress Chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy telephoned her from Chanchalguda jail
with the permission of officials and requested her to give the fast as her
health had deteriorated.

Earlier, thousands of
YSR Congress Party activists gathered outside the hospital premises and spent
anxious moments as she refused to cooperate with doctors for treatment and take
even fluids despite her sugar and BP levels going down.

After Sri Jagan Mohan
Reddy spoke to her, she called off her Deeksha.

Vijayamma launched her
indefinite fast at the sprawling old bus stand area in Guntur on Monday
opposing the Congress unilateral and autocratic decision to form Telangana
state and sending a stern message to the Centre to keep the state united if it
cannot render equal justice to all the regions while solving the Telangana
tangle.

While her Samara
Deeksha continued to evoke huge response and draw the party activists and
supporters from across the state, Vijayamma in her media interactions expressed
the view that the present distressing situation would not have arisen in the
state if TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu and all his party MLAs had resigned when
the YSRCP MLAs had quit.

Warning the Congress
leadership that water wars would erupt if the bifurcation was carried out
without solving the issues such as sharing of river waters, natural gas and
other resources, relocation of Government employees and distribution of public
sector undertakings and revenue sharing besides deciding the status of
Hyderabad city, she said these issues must be solved first before any division
could take place.

“Rendering equal
justice to all regions will be good for the entire state including the
Telangana region. Status quo should continue in the interest of all people of
the state if these issues cannot be solved and settled first and foremost to
the satisfaction of all stake holders,” she said in her brief media interactions.
