Uppunutala, Changala to join YSRCP

In a major setback to the Congress and TDP on Saturday, two senior leaders have quit the parties and are on their way to join the YSRCP.

While Uppunutula Purushottam Reddy, a prominent leader of the Congress hailing from Bhuvanagiri in Nalgonda district has quit the party, TDP senior leader and well known producer Chengala Venkat Rao has also announced his resignation from the TDP. Both the leaders have said they have decided to join the YSRCP.

Addressing a press meet at Bhuvanagiri, Purushottam Reddy said several decisions of the YSR regime have benefited the people and as a mark of respect towards the leader, he said he has decided to join the YSRCP.
“I will join the YSRCP on Sept 9 in Hyderabad,” he said. Speaking about the reservation for BCs in the assembly, he said instead of offering 100 tickets to BCs in the assembly elections, parties should try to ensure 100 BC representatives are elected to the assembly.

Purushottam Reddy said chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was responsible for several ills being faced by the state. “Kiran has no experience as a minister. Hence the problems for the state,” he said.

Venkat Rao to join YSRCP

Senior TDP leader and former MLA from Payakarao Peta assembly constituency, Changala Venkat Rao has announced his resignation from the party.

Speaking to reporters in Visakhapatnam, his own party leadership was responsible for his defeat in Payakarao Pet in the last assembly elections. “I have been serving the TDP for the last 13 years but I was humiliated by the party in the last elections,” he said.

He said he would join the party on Oct 15 in the presence of YSRCP honourary president Smt YS Vijayamma.
