Hyderabad, Nov 19: YSR Congress has demanded the TDP government to make public the reports of various committees that went into the reasons for the suicides, harassment and ragging in corporate colleges and sought the ouster of Education Minister for twin suicides in two days by students studying in corporate colleges.
‘The policy of the TDP and the adamant nature of Chandrababu Naidu has been encouraging such acts of violence against students and women and the Committee Report on Corporate College suicides has been kept in cold storage besides encouraging people who run these institutions,’ party MLA RK Roja told reporters here on Saturday.
Two students have committed suicides in a gap of one day and the State shows no concern, the education minister is holidaying off-shore and Chandrababu Naidu has been showing more interest in organizing beach parties, bikini shows and beer parlours instead of taking effective steps to check ragging and harassment in colleges, she said.
We demand that the Education Minister should be sacked immediately and all Reports of the previous committees on ragging, suicides and harassment in colleges should be made public and the recommendations be implemented, she said adding that there has been laxity on part of the State Government right from the Rishiteshwari’s case and the lenient view has encouraged and emboldened the perpetrators to commit more such acts.
‘Atrocities on women have been on the rise in TDP term with ministers and their kin directly being involved in the assault and the government had shielded all of them on all occasions and when the issue was raised in the House, I was suspended,’ she said.
Chandrababu Naidu and his son have a poor opinion on women and they have always ill-treated women. Though large number of students committed suicides in Narayana group of Institutions, the owner of the group remains to be in the cabinet which has been baffling, she said.
We demand that the Reports of various committees that studied the issue of suicides, ragging, harassment and other issues related to corporate colleges be made public and stern action should be taken against the culprits, besides dropping the ministers having links with such education institutions.
