*Chandrababu Shielding ‘Tainted’ TTD chief: MLC Varudu Kalyani*

Visakhapatnam, March 22: YSRCP Women’s Wing State President and MLC Varudu Kalyani strongly criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for continuing to support TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu despite serious allegations, stating that his actions have hurt the sentiments of devotees of Lord Venkateswara. Speaking to the media at the party’s district office in Visakhapatnam, she questioned who the “real betrayer of Hindu faith” behind B.R. Naidu is, asserting that the public now clearly understands the political backing protecting him. She expressed anguish that Chandrababu, during his recent Tirumala visit, chose to move around with a “tainted” individual, thereby sending a deeply offensive message to devotees and undermining the sanctity of the holy shrine.

Kalyani pointed out that despite prior complaints, including a written representation by a woman named Indulekha during elections alleging inappropriate behaviour towards women, B.R. Naidu was still appointed as TTD Chairman. She said that even after obscene videos linked to him surfaced, the government failed to take any action, which she termed shocking and unacceptable. She alleged that it is only due to government patronage that B.R. Naidu continues to behave arrogantly, and questioned why the administration remains silent despite widespread outrage among devotees across the world demanding his removal.

She further criticised Chandrababu for allowing B.R. Naidu to participate in the annaprasadam programme held in Tirumala during his grandson Devaansh’s birthday celebrations, calling it an inappropriate and insensitive act that hurt devotees’ feelings. She alleged that B.R. Naidu is being retained in the post to facilitate misuse of TTD funds, particularly through inflated ghee tenders under the Indapur Dairy arrangement, and claimed that such decisions indicate deliberate exploitation of temple resources. Additionally, she stated that the government is using B.R. Naidu’s media backing to cover up its governance failures, including unfulfilled election promises, deteriorating law and order, and rising public dissatisfaction.

Raising serious concerns about temple administration, she said that under B.R. Naidu’s tenure, devotees’ sentiments have been repeatedly hurt, citing incidents such as mismanagement during Vaikunta Ekadasi leading to a stampede that claimed six lives, growing irregularities in darshan ticket allocation, and preferential treatment for a few while ordinary devotees suffer. She questioned how a person who speaks disrespectfully about sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita can be allowed to continue as Chairman, and demanded accountability from Chandrababu Naidu.

Kalyani also questioned whether Nara Bhuvaneshwari, as a woman, should not raise her voice against the continuation of a person facing allegations of misconduct towards women, especially when he is seen accompanying the Chief Minister’s family in religious programmes. She said that by associating with such individuals even in personal events, Chandrababu is sending a dangerous message that wrongdoing will be protected if politically convenient.

Highlighting governance contrast, she stated that key initiatives like the TTD Food Safety (FSSAI) lab were actually initiated during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure in 2023, and accused Chandrababu of falsely claiming credit. She added that under Y.S. Jagan’s leadership, Hindu Dharma was protected, including reconstruction of over 40 temples demolished during Chandrababu’s earlier tenure and establishment of the Srivani Trust, while current claims of constructing thousands of temples are merely a copy of earlier initiatives.

Demanding immediate action, Varudu Kalyani said that if Chandrababu truly has devotion towards Lord Venkateswara, he must remove B.R. Naidu from the post of TTD Chairman without delay. She asserted that continuing such a controversial individual in a position of responsibility is unacceptable and warned that public anger will only intensify if corrective steps are not taken.
