Tadepalli, March 26: YSRCP Student Wing Working President A. Ravichandra alleged a massive Rs. 5 crore education scam in B.Ed practical examinations under Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) and demanded an immediate probe and strict action against those responsible.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, he said that across more than 60 affiliated colleges, students were allegedly forced to pay at least Rs. 12,000 each, with collections reaching nearly Rs. 15 lakh per college. He stated that serious allegations have emerged against the university’s B.Ed exam coordinator Subba Rao in connection with this irregularity.
Ravichandra accused the coalition government of allowing education to be commercialised, questioning whether Education Minister Nara Lokesh is turning a blind eye while university officials exploit students. He pointed out that similar allegations surfaced last year as well, where students were reportedly made to pay money to pass B.Ed exams, severely affecting meritorious students. Despite complaints made earlier to the then in-charge Vice Chancellor Gangadhar Rao and the formation of a three-member committee, no action was taken, enabling the continuation of the same malpractice this year.
He further stated that while around 7,000 students were expected to appear for the practical exams, nearly 5,000 students from other states who were absent were still passed after collecting money from them. He demanded a thorough investigation into the entire examination process and strict punishment for all those involved in what he termed a blatant education scam.
