Rajamahendravaram, March 23: Former MP Margani Bharat strongly condemned the abusive and derogatory remarks made against Scheduled Castes by Adireddy Apparao, father of Rajamahendravaram City MLA Adireddy Srinivas, stating that such language exposes the coalition government’s failure to ensure dignity and security for marginalized communities.
Speaking to the media at the YSRCP office in Rajamahendravaram, he said the recently surfaced audio call clearly reflects arrogance and a pattern of offensive behavior towards SC communities. He pointed out that Apparao has a history of using abusive language, threatening individuals, and being involved in attacks against SC persons, and said this is not an isolated incident but a continuation of past misconduct.
He questioned the silence of the sitting MLA, asking whether this is the kind of “security” being promised to SC communities when even family members of elected representatives openly use such language. He also highlighted past incidents where individuals, including women and grassroots leaders, were threatened or insulted, and noted that even in the latest case, an SC individual and organizations like Mala Mahanadu and Madiga Mahanadu were spoken about in a demeaning manner. He stressed that the issue is not personal but concerns the dignity of an entire community.
Bharat further criticized the broader political environment, stating that leaders in the ruling coalition continue to display arrogance and insensitivity towards marginalized sections. He referred to recent comments by Minister Nara Lokesh on BC communities such as Gouds and Setti Balijas, calling them regressive and reflective of a mindset that still sees backward classes as confined to traditional occupations. He questioned whether such communities are expected to remain limited to manual trades, while asserting that today’s generation aspires for education, entrepreneurship, and equal opportunities alongside all sections of society.
He stated that marginalized communities are seeking proportional representation, dignity, and progress, not token gestures or outdated welfare narratives. He concluded that such remarks from those in power expose a deep-rooted bias and warned that people are closely watching these developments, and will respond appropriately.
