Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang who went on leave on Tuesday cancelled the festival break and joined duties on Wednesday. Informing the media about his decision, Sawang said in view of the ongoing investigations in spurious liquor case and call money scam, he wanted to rejoin his duty. "There was no political reason for my leave. I had applied for a leave some two months back and it was approved last month, before these incidents happened. Every Christmas I spend time with family and planned to go Australia where we all gather. But in view of the seriousness of the situation in Vijayawada, I am staying back," Sawang said.
Sawang wrote to the state DGP JV Ramudu requesting the cancellation of his leave. He said the investigations into spurious liquor case and call money scam are going on systematically, methodically and logically and there is no question of any kind of political pressure on him in this regard. "We will bring everyone involved in these cases to book, irrespective of their political or social status," he said.
